In the studio and a behind the decks, Washington DC’s Steve Starks is on the rise.
With two EP’s on DJ Ayres and Tittsworth’s T&A Records, he continues to carve out his place in dance music with his unique sound – a bass heavy hybrid of hip-hop, house, techno, Baltimore club, Latin rhythms and extraterrestrial sounds.
As a resident DJ at the legendary U Street Music Hall and 1/3 of Nouveau Riche – one of DC’s longest running and most successful dance nights – Starks is veteran party rocker who has preformed at SXSW, CMJ and WMC festivals annually and has shared the stage with MSTRKRFT, Klever, Sinden, Tittsworth, and Blaqstarr to name a few. His tracks have appeared on BBC Radio 1′s Essential Mix, hosted by Pete Tong, and his 2010 club banger ‘Git Em’ was featured in DJ Mag.
While Steve Starks has received major support from Drop the Lime, Brodinski, Kissy Sell Out, Teki Latex and Nadastrom, his musical journey has just begun. With two new EP’s set to drop along with a series of collaborations, Starks is looking to prove that he is a creative force to be reckoned with and a world class DJ in 2012!
